Since the Middle Ages, the nativity scene has been one of the oldest traditions for depicting the birth of Jesus in a hut, cave or stable.
The word "Presepe" , invented in 1223 by St. Francis of Assisi, comes from the Latin praesaepe, meaning manger.
Over the years, cultures around the world have influenced every aspect of the sacred representation.
In fact, in addition to the 3 main characters, Jesus, Joseph and Mary, each nativity scene is enriched until it becomes a representation filled with characters of various kinds, animals, inns and workshops of various trades...
